The Essence Of Your Story with Miguel Machalski

September 20 - 24 Binger Filmlab offers a 5-day project development workshop designed for screenwriters, directors and creative producers.

Led by renowned story editor Miguel Machalski, participants will delve into the essence of their story and identify clearly the film they intend to make.

Each day focuses on one of the main building blocks of the script: theme, characters, plot, structure and dialogue whilst also assessing the overall profile of the project.

During a series of collective sessions for which participants will have read each others' projects, they will examine how the different components work within them and come away with a deeper understanding of their project.

Dismissing a single rigid, systemized standard for every project, Miguel seeks an ideal synergy with the writer, keeping in mind the uniqueness and specificity of each project.

He urges:

"Come prepared to exchange and share: you have to be actively creative!"

Who: Miguel has worked as a script-analyst for a.o, Billy Elliot, Million Dollar Baby and Burnt Money. Miguel runs workshops and works as a consultant in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, has written two books on screenwriting and written or co-written 18 feature films in several different genres.

Requirements: Projects should at least be in the treatment stage, and if available scripts supplied also. The treatment will be the basis of group discussion.

When: September 20th - 24th.
Maximum number of projects: 8
Cost: €925 per project
Application Deadline: July 1
